Tretizen 10 is a drug of the retinoid group. Isotretinoin is a structural analogue of vitamin A. The drug is used to treat acne, rosacea, dermatitis, as well as to reduce the depth of wrinkles and fine lines on the face.
The mechanism of action of drugs based on Isotretinoin for acne (with acne and pimples):
- Reduces the thickness of the surface layer of the epidermis;
- Comedonolytic properties;
- Reduces the activity of the sebaceous glands.
Tretizen 10 is administered orally in the form of capsules starting at 0.1 mg (per 2 pounds of body weight) per day. Approximately 4 weeks later, the dose is adjusted depending on the effectiveness and tolerability of the drug – in the range from 0.1 to 1.0 mg (per 2 pounds of body weight) per day. The treatment cycle lasts up to 16 weeks.
Keep in mind that you will need about 4 weeks before you notice certain positive changes in the skin. Therefore, be patient. In addition, the first 1-2 weeks may worsen your acne (this is normal when using this group of drugs).
It should be noted that Tretizen 10 can affect different people in different ways. In most patients, they are completely absent or mild.
The most common side effects are:
- Redness of the skin;
- Peeling of the skin;
- Tingling, burning and irritation of the skin at the site of application;
- Increased skin sensitivity to sunlight.
